>The CNN/YouTube Debate

Watching it now.  Okay the guy on the toilet with the gun…crazy.  This is a wild format!  So far I’ve watch about five minutes but I love it.  Hillary does not look well…I wonder if she ate something bad.  Sen. Biden (spelling?)  pretty funny.

Why do they continue to show the screen in the debate with the video’s on it?  Can they not edit it into the actual screen rather than a shot of the screen.

Edwards on fashion..nice.  Great idea and I like it.

>The Big Kahuna

It has been close to ten years since I have watched this movie.  At the time of first watching it I was working successful as a young salesman for a large copier company (the company was large, not the copiers)  Since I have gone to seminary, worked for over three years in ministry, and now am back in sales.

Watching the film again was interesting.  My thoughts are making my head full.  So I wanted to start the fountain and possibly write again later.

Two themes that struck me.  Be true and be trust-worthy.  We are all people and those are two great pursuits.  Truth and trust.

>Psalm 85

85:1 Lord, you were favorable to your land;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people;
you covered all their sin. Selah
3 You withdrew all your wrath;
you turned from your hot anger.

4 Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
and put away your indignation toward us!
5 Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation.

8 Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints;
but let them not turn back to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
and righteousness looks down from the sky.
12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good,
and our land will yield its increase.
13 Righteousness will go before him
and make his footsteps a way.

 God cares about his people and his creation.  He restores the fortunes of both.  This is good news for everyone to hear.  God is not angry, he’s over that, Jesus show us that, and there are second chances for us.  I ask God what are the fortunes in my life?  I have a great wife, great daughter, roof over our head, and a steady job.  I go on a trip like the one I am on and I realize that I have families, though they may both drive me crazy the way families do, are wonderful get along and enjoy life.

“Let me hear what the Lord will speak”- this is something I long for.  My heart is prone to war rather than peace most of the time.  I am learning to take the humble nice road instead of rubbing people’s nose in it, but it is hard for me.

The view of righteousness and peace kiss are a beautiful picture.  Christ at the cross took all of God’s war against sin upon himself and because God is righteous He will not punish that twice.  It is impossible, therefore his people are free of his anger.  This really could be one of my favorite Psalms.  It just makes sense, and show us how we are to be in God and how God cares for us.

>Psalm 84

84:1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul longs, yes, faints
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and flesh sing for joy
to the living God.

3 Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may lay her young,
at your altars, O Lord of hosts,
my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house,
ever singing your praise! Selah

5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
in whose heart are the highways to Zion.
6 As they go through the Valley of Baca
they make it a place of springs;
the early rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength;
each one appears before God in Zion.

8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah
9 Behold our shield, O God;
look on the face of your anointed!

10 For a day in your courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
from those who walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts,
blessed is the one who trusts in you!

As I am writing this, it is raining this morning and I feel refreshed. Just sitting with God in his home, makes our soul feel new. There are few moments that we experience that in this life, but when we do it is sweet.

I was in need of change with the Psalms. All this defeating my enemies and God being silent were getting to me. It is as if there had to be a hunger placed in my soul so that I can feast upon all that God has to offer.

He takes care of the most lowly. The birds he gives young to, and we join with them in thankful song. There is a deep strength that comes from that relationship. Strength that can handle the darkest of moments, allow us to love people who are unlovable, and deny ourselves even when we have been wronged (as I write that I am convicted of how I have already not follow through on that one this morning).

We get to go to the springs of God. There we have our thirst satisfied, but also we get to take a bath and swim. We are made clean and it is a place of joy. The great picture I have is from Lord of the Rings where Golumn (spelling) is catching fish in the waterfall and pounching around as a friend of the Hobbits. We have that same turn around and freedom.

Yet unlike in the movie where that moment of vulnerability bites him in the ass. God protects us. He is our shield. Being with him is better than any other place that we can be. He is our sustainer and protector. “No good think does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

>Psalm 83

83:1 O God, do not keep silence;
do not hold your peace or be still, O God!
2 For behold, your enemies make an uproar;
those who hate you have raised their heads.
3 They lay crafty plans against your people;
they consult together against your treasured ones.
4 They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation;
let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”
5 For they conspire with one accord;
against you they make a covenant—
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Asshur also has joined them;
they are the strong arm of the children of Lot. Selah

9 Do to them as you did to Midian,
as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
10 who were destroyed at En-dor,
who became dung for the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 who said, “Let us take possession for ourselves
of the pastures of God.”

13 O my God, make them like whirling dust, [1]
like chaff before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest,
as the flame sets the mountains ablaze,
15 so may you pursue them with your tempest
and terrify them with your hurricane!
16 Fill their faces with shame,
that they may seek your name, O Lord.
17 Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever;
let them perish in disgrace,
18 that they may know that you alone,
whose name is the Lord,
are the Most High over all the earth.

The silence of God is one of the most frightening thing to me.  At least when someone is talking to you, you know where you stand, when there is silence you don’t know.  For Israel they wonder if God has partnered with their enemies because of his silence.  He says all these people are doing terrible things against us are you working with them?

Tornados in Maryland?  That is what has been happening and what a wild picture.  When God does show up he is a horrible storm.  One that takes out the forest.  He might have been silent before but now everyone else is talking.  Their weakness and insecurity have been revealed and now they know who this God is that had been sitting silently.

>MS WPC Experience

My time in Denver at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner’s Conference was great!  I must be into drinking Kool Aide or something, because I had a great time!  The entire thing is a pep rally for Microsoft to get their partners excited about where the company is going and how they can be apart.  Also there are salespeople everywhere, so everyone is working an angle with everyone.  It was a blast.
We were the only localization company with a booth, which made us very distinct.  Also Sinometrics has worked very hard at their marketing with the booth and such so we looked really good!
Most of my time was spent working the booth but I did go to one break out session with Steve Clayton.  Steve is a friend of Hugh Macleod  who I have really drank the Kool Aide of, I am impressed with both of these guys and how they are thinking about technology, mostly relationally.  Now I know that is very Web 2.0 catchy and cool.  But what they are thinking and talking about is more than the latest marketing wank.  It is broad, not just technology but related to all walks of life.  The questions are how does technology make us better people in how we deal with one another including in the area of business.
Steve’s class was very basic, but for some of the Worldwide Partners I am sure it was helpful.  I got a book to read out of it, which I always love, a few new action items, and I am going to give Windows Live Writer a spin with blogging since I am getting sick of iWeb and the time and lack of responsiveness the program has (is this the foreshadowing of a new blog address?  i don’t know, my guess is that this one will still exist on some level)
Here is a picture of the class which was easily update to Steve’s blog during the class http://blogs.msdn.com/stevecla01/archive/2007/07/11/this-is-my-audience-aren-t-they-beautiful.aspx   You can’t see me but I promise that I am there.  I have the blue monster sticker to prove it:)  Which I still need to send Steve a picture of…those were the conditions of getting one.  Anyway I would love to get the time today and really get into more about the conference and the thinks I am thinking.
